The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
